This is a variation of Probable Proverbs that involves rephrasing the lyrics to a well known song using as much alliteration with the same letter as possible. Bonus points if the meter works, too, so that one could actually sing the new version, and extra bonus if the rhyme scheme is maintained. Is it possible to get all the way through something like "Stairway to Heaven"? or even "American Pie"? Get out those Thesauri!
I can imagine categories for other types of things besides song lyrics. Nursery rhymes, famous poems, speeches (e.g. Gettysburg address?), Extended lines from books or movies ("This here is a 44 magnum, the largest, etc...you've got to ask yourself one question. Do I feel lucky? Well...Do ya PUNK?" -- how many ways could that be done with alliteration?)
Yesterday--Paul McCartneyall my troubles seemed so far away Now it looks as though they're here to stay Oh I believe in yesterday. Suddenly, I'm not half the man I used to be There's a shadow hanging over me Oh yesterday came suddenly Why she had to go, I don't know, she wouldn't say I said something wrong now I long for yesterday-ay-ay-ay Yesterday, love was such an easy game to play Now I need a place to hide away Oh, I believe in yesterday. In the Past--Rex StocklinPlenty problems posed per mileposts passed Their presence promises not to "procrast" Pal, I pay heed to pre-today. P.D.Q. My proportions pruned from previous "pneu" A penumbra's poised in upwards queue The preceding timeplot point flew. Pray why she parted, perplexes plenty She pardoned? Pshaw! I piped a propos Please I plea, to prece-e-e-ede Present's past Passion's play is pretty piece of pud I plan to purchase a place to plotz Please, I proclaim of previously (repeat pause and precursory pentametered prose) |

Formerly--Stanley AndersonAll my failures felt so far from me Now I fear they've flopped in front of me Oh, I have faith in former days. Unforseen, I'm a fragment of my former frame with forboding floating like a flame. Oh, former days flit unforseen. Unfamiliarly, she went forth, and said farewell. I affirmed a fallacy Now I fawn for former Hell, oh Formerly, With facility, I'd flirt around. Now I follow where I can't be found. Oh, I have faith in former days. Heretofore--Stanley Andersonall my hardships hailed as history Now are heading home and haunting me Hey, I have hope in heretofore. Hastily, I have half of my humanity. A hellish host is hovering over me. Hey, heretofore has hounded me. Her hejira, I had no hint, I heard no hope I was heinous; how I, with hunger, grope for yest-er-day, oh Hitherto, heart-to-heart had happy hunting here. Now a hidden hospice hails, I fear. Hey, I have hope in heretofore. (re-hearse hiatus and hindmost hook-holder) |

Previously--Stanley Andersonall my problems I perceived as past Now are probably prepared to last I was persuaded previously Presently, partly proto-human, partly me With Penumbra perched precariously The past approached and pecked at me Perspicacity was precluded, not expressed Postulating improperly, I pine for yest-er-day, oh Previously, passion proved a painless pleasantry. Privacy, I probe for presently. I was persuaded previously. (persevere with penultimate and post passages of poem) |
