Volcano National Park, Pu'uhonua o Honaunau (Place of Refuge), the Captain Cook monument, Hulihe'e Palace, or Lapakahi State

Don't forget the food oriented activities!
Have breakfast, lunch, or dinner at an oceanfront restaurant, listening
to the waves crash while you enjoy your meal.
Visit one of the local Farmers' Markets and pick up fresh produce and
flowers - papaya, pineapple or local bananas for breakfast, salad greens and tomatoes from Waimea, cut
orchids or anthurium, plants to have shipped home.
Try one of the local specials - malasadas (light donut puffs), lilikoi
cheesecake, macademia nut ice cream or pie (or both!), shave ice (snow cone), fresh fish (ahi, mahi-mahi, or ono), papayas,
Kona coffee, Lava Man Ale at the Kona Brew Pub
Attend a luau and try the traditional foods (roasted pig, poi, poke, etc.)
while you're entertained by Hawaiian music and dance. Or, try a local "Plate Lunch" which might include fish or
BBQ meat or Spam, plus macaroni salad and/or rice.
