1847-1868
The first surgeon, Robert Murray was a native of Maryland and was commissioned
as an Assistant Surgeon
on 29 June 1846. He was assigned to the Presidio in March
1847. Most of his
first tour was spent in Los Angeles,
Monterey, and Camp Far West before being reassigned
to Boston and New York in 1850.

on November 23, 1883.
