Miler Team Job Descriptions
Senior Patrol Leader (SPL):
On the outing ...
Answer all girl's questions, checking with troop leaders where necessary
Assign daily patrol tasks, such as wood gathering and foil picking.
Working with troop leaders, choose each day's campsite.
As soon as we arrive in camp, make sure that everyone knows which
portions of the forest are for the women and men to use for cat hygiene
and changing.
Make sure that the campfire is carefully doused before going to
bed each evening.
Act as a focal point for all communication between girls and troop
leaders.
Afterwards ...
Write an evaluation, and make sure your team members write theirs.
Quartermistress:
Gather/clean/check all the troop-issued equipment.
Purchase all supplies except for first aid items. Supplies include
such items as shampoo, trash bags, sunscreen, hand lotion, cooking oil
and others.
Arrive at pack inspection with equipment and supplies bagged by
patrol. Issue one bag to each patrol.
Afterwards ...
Prepare an evaluation after the outing.
Clean the troop equipment after the outing, inventory it, and prepare
it for storage.
Journalist:
Before the trip ...
Buy a little journal book and pen.
On the outing ...
Keep a daily diary of what we did and what we saw.
Afterwards ..
Give the journal to a troop leader for copying and distribution at the
slide show.
Phone Tree/Roster:
Maintain a current roster of all of the Miler participants.
Establish a phone tree as required to disperse information and make
reminders.
Food:
Help purchase the food.
Package the food by day, meal, and patrol.
Funds:
Keep track of the income and expenses for the Miler.
Photographer:
Supply film and a camera for the trip.
Make a photographic journal for use at the slide show.
Prep Hikes:
Keep track of the miles each participant has hiked.
Coordinate the rides for the hikes.
