Crónán is a traditional Irish music group that performs in concerts and Festivals around the San Francisco Bay Area. The members of this group, (founded in 1998,) are long-time participants in the Irish music scene there. The members include; Jack Gilder on concertina & flute, Kevin Bernhagen on fiddle, Junji Shirota on guitar and vocalist Rebecca Marculescu. The songs that Crónán perform are presented in a traditional Irish style with careful attention to detail. They are performed with intricate arrangements by the band, and sometimes without any accompaniment in the seanós style. The experience of listening to it is like hearing poetry being woven into a beautiful melody.

The tunes the band plays are from a living tradition that dates back anywhere from 300 years ago to say... last week. Reels, jigs and hornpipes are played with grace and agility, as well as airs and waltzes lovingly performed. If you ducked into a pub for a pint, you might see four or five musicians sitting around a table near the fire playing away on fiddles, flutes, concertinas, guitars and such, and filling the room with colorful bouncy tunes that seem to be echoing from somewhere deep in your heart... that's the kind of music Crónán loves and plays.
