JODY'S HEAVEN  consists of three individuals that share a love for Traditional Irish Music. They aren't interested in doing anything other with the music than play it just how they like it, sweet and traditional. With fiddle virtuoso Dale Russ, flute & concertina wizard Jack Gilder, and the guitar genius of Junji Shirota, and they play their hearts out on two recordings that have met with critical acclaim. After enjoying the experience of recording the first one titled "Jody's Heaven", the lads decided to do it again and they made "Garden Of Butterflies" which went on to receive the "Bronze Star" for "Celtic Album Of The Year" by Crossroads Magazine. While the first recording,
"Jody's Heaven," was mostly arranged by Jack & Junji (adding in Dale to what was mostly a duo format), the second recording, "Garden Of Butterflies" was a collaboration between all three. Another difference between the two recordings might be the fact that they recorded the second one at the end of a west coast tour at Bear Creek Studios, and because of the studio set up, they could play as though they were live (and well rehersed). Even with these differences people still perceive the two recordings as the same group. A lot of people say that Jody's Heaven plays honest sounding Traditional Irish Music, and that's just what Dale, Junji and Jack like to hear.
"Garden Of Butterflies" is on the Aniar recording lable, and was recorded in 1998.
It has just recieved a "Bronze Star" award for "Celtic Album Of The Year" by Crossroads Magazine. And will be reviewed shortly by a variety of music magazines. Keep an eye on
our "Reviews" page for updates.
