These navigation light panel assemblies control and monitor up to 6 marine navigation lights.

Navigation lights can be 12 VDC (5, 10 or 25 watts) or 24 VDC (10 or 25 watts).

Each panel assembly includes:

• an ABS panel, 5 inches wide x 6 5/8 inches high, with inscribed boat outline
• one 15 ampere circuit breaker that controls power to navigation lights and protects circuitry
• a toggle switch that allows intuitive selection of navigation lights: for sailboats, a 3-position switch: SAIL (up), MOTOR (center) and ANCHOR (down); for powerboats, a 2-position switch: UNDERWAY (up) and ANCHORED (down)
• navlight INDICATORS , appropriately positioned within the boat outline, that illuminate when corresponding navigation lights are switched on and lighted
• CURRENT SENSORS that monitor navigation light bulb current draw; when a bulb burns out, the corresponding indicator flashes on and off to alert the crew
  

Panels NLI135S & NLI136S include a second toggle switch (2-position) that allows selection of either tricolor or lower sailing lights only when SAIL is selected. Separation of circuits is accomplished by poles on the switches, without the need for diodes.

The QuickTime movie at the left shows a representative motoring situation, in which the port sidelight navigation light bulb has burned out.

You may have to click once or twice on the movie to initiate flashing.

Panel assemblies are fully prewired, ready for external connections to battery and navigation lights.

A separate negative return must be provided for each navigation light.
(except Panels NLI136 NLI136S, in which tricolor & anchor light negative returns connect to same current sensor)

NOTE 1: ON PANELS NLI136 & NLI136S, TRICOLOR & ANCHOR LIGHTS SHARE A CURRENT SENSOR, WHICH ACCOMODATES A COMMON NEGATIVE RETURN. THIS FEATURE IS ALSO AVAILABLE ON PANELS NLI135 & NLI135S, UPON REQUEST. PLEASE E-MAIL FOR DETAILS.

NOTE 2: VESSELS MUST COMPLY WITH USCG NAVIGATION RULES. TO DOWNLOAD PDF COPY, SELECT USCG NAVIGATION RULES. SOME PERTINENT RULES ARE:

• VESSELS OF 12 METERS (39.4 FEET) OR MORE IN LENGTH ARE NOT PERMITTED TO SUBSTITUTE ALL-ROUND WHITE LIGHT FOR STEAMING (MASTHEAD) LIGHT + STERN LIGHT.
• NAVIGATION LIGHT VISIBILITY REQUIREMENTS ARE DEPENDENT ON VESSEL LENGTH.

Panels can accommodate common negative return wiring, provided those navigation lights are never on at the same time. Current sensors will work with LED navigation lights that draw at least 250 milliamps. Panels can also be configured (and priced) without one or more current sensors.
