Hello! We are Brett, Dyan and Hank Richardson!

Thank you for taking the time to learn more about our family. Although we have not met you, we greatly admire the love you show for your child in making your adoption decision. What a precious gift you are willing to give to your child and the family you place him/her with! We look forward to meeting you and beginning a life long relationship with you.

We are excited that we have the opportunity to grow as a family through open adoption. Before we were married we talked about our hope of having two or three children. We feel it is important for our children to experience the same love and fun we experienced by having siblings. We have so much love in our hearts and can’t wait to share it with another child.

ABOUT US…
We met five years ago through mutual friends and quickly became friends. We soon found out we shared many of the same hopes and dreams. We have been happily married for four years and have made a life long commitment to each other. We have seen our marriage grow stronger daily. We are both blessed to have parents who have modeled the commitment to marriage and family in their lives.

Two years ago we were blessed with the birth of Hank. Watching him grow and change daily has been one of our richest joys. We look forward to experiencing new joys and celebrating the uniqueness of another child in our family. This child will make our family doubly blessed.

DYAN…
Dyan is a compassionate and caring person. She has the honor and privilege of being a stay-at-home mom. This has been the most rewarding and important experience she has had. She loves to read to Hank from her extensive children’s book collection. Her favorite hobby includes taking pictures and making scrapbooks. She is ready to record all the "firsts" and other memories for another child.

Dyan was an elementary school teacher for thirteen years and knows the importance of parental involvement in a child’s education. She plans to be actively involved in her children’s classrooms. She enjoys working with the children’s clubs and teaching Bible classes at our church.

BRETT…
Brett is a quiet person with an easy going personality. He has always enjoyed working with both his mind and his hands. He has college degrees in math and chemistry, and is employed as a technologist for a company that builds equipment used in making computer chips. While he likes his work, it does not compare to the joy of being a husband and father.

Brett’s hobbies include home improvement projects, and a recent interest in video editing to preserve the memories we make as a family on video CDs. Brett listens to all types of music and sings with our church praise team. He enjoys playing guitar, and is learning to play the harmonica. He sings Hank to sleep most nights.

HANK…
Hank is an active, happy two-year-old. He loves to be outside playing on his swing set, driving his jeep, playing with balls and chasing his dog, Ranger. He enjoys his weekly play dates with several groups of friends. Hank will be a very loving and protective big brother. He is looking forward to sharing his swing set and playing games with a sibling.

THINGS WE LIKE TO DO…
We love the outdoors, family walks (we’re ready for a double stroller), playing softball and tennis, bowling, gardening and travel. We own a boat and enjoy time water skiing and camping at the lake with friends. We love splashing in the water and making mud pies until the kids are ready to tube and ski. We’ve enjoyed vacations in Mexico, the Bahamas, Florida and Disneyland. Each year we visit family in Ohio, Colorado, and Nebraska, where Grandpa Brown looks forward to tractor rides with his grand kids. We also enjoy home improvement projects, reading children’s stories and spending time together as a family.

OUR HOME…
We live in San Ramon, California, about forty miles from San Francisco. Our neighborhood is very family oriented with many young families and children. We live close by two highly ranked elementary schools and a newly finished children’s park. We have a large backyard with lots of room to run and play, a swing set with a fort, and gardens where we grow our favorite vegetables and flowers. Within walking distance is our neighborhood swimming pool and tennis court. Our house is on a cul-de-sac with little traffic, making it a popular place for street hockey, basketball and skating.

OUR FAMILIES…
Family is extremely important to us. Brett’s parents, sister and niece also live in San Ramon and we see them often. Dyan’s family is spread out in Nebraska and Colorado. Our lives are blessed by many close relationships that have become like family and whom we call "Mom and Dad" and Hank calls "Grandma and Papa, Aunt and Uncle". We share holidays, birthdays and other special events with our families and special friends. We’re looking forward to including another child in our family traditions. We can’t wait to add their special ornament to our Christmas tree each year, decorate cookies and gingerbread houses for Santa, pick their own pumpkin at the pumpkin patch, hunt Easter eggs hidden in "Grandma" Bonnie’s yard, and play games together at family Bar-B-Qs. We belong to a wonderful, supportive and caring church family. Everyone is looking forward to loving and spoiling a new member of the family.

LOVING OUR CHILDREN…
The most important thing we can give our children is knowledge that they are loved unconditionally. We will nurture their physical, mental and spiritual growth. We want them to know their potential is only limited by their dreams, and will encourage them to reach their highest potential. Our expectations are that our children will respect themselves and others, show kindness, apply their best abilities in school, and live a life of which they can be proud. Our prayer is that they will make a decision to share our Christian faith, and be filled with joy in their life. We will help them achieve these things by demonstrating them in our lives.
