SAN FRANCISCO ART INSTITUTE GALA - 2002 -
A Tribute to SF Film Maker Philip Kaufman.
Film luminaries George Lucas, Ashley Judd & Philip Kaufman
enjoyed dinner in the McBean Gallery, which SYNAPSE turned
into a Planetarium with multi-layered and angled fabric screens.
|
SAN FRANCISCO ART INSTITUTE GALA - 2002 -
Taking off from Kaufman's film "Quills", SYNASPE transformed
the Diego Rivera Gallery into a 12th Century French
Abby. We
layered over excerpts of his writings from that time, in
the original
French, & the text was also silk-screened onto the table cloths.

NORTH FACE BEVERLY HILLS - GRAND OPENING - 2002 -
A posh Hollywood Opening for the new North Face store, well
known for outfitting expeditions to the Himalayas. SYNAPSE
muralized the walls inside with images from sacred Tibetan art,
to match the theme and artifacts used to decorate the store.

NORTH FACE - BEVERLY HILLS - GRAND OPENING - 2002 -
On the upper story of the building, three windows that faced the
street were turned into custom-fitted rear-projection screens.
As cars and pedistrians moved along Beverly Drive, they saw
richly colored, animated imagery play across the screens.

SAN FRANCISCO ART INSTITUTE GALA - DIEGO RIVERA SHOW
We covered the ceilings and walls of the McBean Gallery with images
from Diego's & Freda's paintings and our own original graphics depicting
Mexican and ancient Aztec themes and designs in bold tropical colors.
Computer animation slowly rippled the changing images across the room.
Upstairs on the second level of the Gallery, we installed a wall of three
Rear Projection Screens that carried additional computer programmed
images from Diego's murals. In front of this wall, a DJ-Live Musician
performed a specially composed ambient music soundtrack for the event.
