When Pathfinder landed on Mars in July 1997, an on-line discussion of Martian calendars and clocks began as a series of one-on-one emails that slowly accumulated a number of CCs. In February 1998 we began referring to ourselves as the Martian Time Virtual Conference. In June 1999 we created the first MTVC email list. In August 1999 we were offered the opportunity to migrate the MTVC to a Mars Society server. By 2005, however, this list was overrun by spammers, and in December we moved the conference to the Mars Homestead Project You don't necessarily need academic credentials to make a meaningful contribution to the subject of Martian time, but you do need to think clearly and holistically. Some quite valuable insights and well-reasoned arguments have been advanced by new students of the subject. Even a half-baked idea can sometimes be developed into a reasonable proposition through good discussion. Join the fun!In addition to the main discussion list, we also have a forum for focused discussion on specific projects. We have no active projects at this time. |
