Which Way Wheatland
Wagon wheels marked the way in ruts
The Pioneers plight
Wooden wheeled wagons drawn by oxen
Then by mules and horses
Carried their loads
At first Pioneers with their possessions
Then wheat and water
And later peaches and pears
Aw, but with the way west went
The wooden wheels
On to rubber.
The steel wheels went to rails.
With the rails went the hops, the Wobblies
And then the wool.
The rubber hit the road
And with it
Rows of almonds, prunes, and walnuts.
Wheatland weathered the changes
Due to wind and water and weeds
But with water and wells and wiers
Came wealth and worth
The wheels keep turning
Wheels now belonging to
Wheeled weapons
And they
Are now whipping our woods
And roadways
According to developers wishes
Wheatland, which wheels will we run on
Which Way Wheatland
